Ads for natural gas were allowed until the new rules came into effect in June, 2023. In 2021 the City of Amsterdam became the first city in the world to ban ads from fossil fuel and aviation companies. Car and air transport products and services running on fossil-fuels could no longer be advertised in the city centre and city subway stations.
